Collection: Bettie Huibers

Originally from the Netherlands, Bettie Huibers has called Central Hawke’s Bay home since 1983. A qualified art therapist and experienced educator, Bettie works fluidly across acrylic, oil, and watercolour to explore the emotional language of colour.

Her creative process moves between two approaches: intuitively layering translucent hues to let forms emerge organically, and beginning with a defined theme where colour is chosen to reveal the subject. Whether spontaneous or deliberate, each painting invites the viewer into a shifting field of tone, mood, and discovery.
