Collection: Carol Theologo

Carol Theologo is a largely self-taught artist who works in oils, drawn to the beauty and mystery of the New Zealand bush. Her paintings carry a distinctive misty quality, created through layers of paint and gentle scratchwork that reveal glimpses of trees, vines, and foliage — as though the viewer is peering through morning haze or soft drifting fog.

Birds often appear in her work, bringing life, colour, and movement to these atmospheric landscapes. From kererū to fantails, her subjects feel at home in their surroundings, offering a sense of quiet wonder to those who pause to look.

Carol’s art captures not just what is seen, but the feeling of being there — the stillness of dappled light, the hush of a forest clearing, the magic of nature alive with birdsong. This ability to hold both atmosphere and detail makes her work treasured by those who seek pieces that soothe, uplift, and connect them to the natural world.
