Napier-based artist Lucie Anderson creates work that celebrates colour, movement, and light. Originally from Belgium, Lucie began her creative career in photography before turning to the expressive medium of alcohol inks. Drawn to its fluidity and unpredictability, she embraces the way inks move and evolve, letting each piece emerge with its own rhythm and energy.

Her practice is deeply meditative, often accompanied by classical or ambient music as she guides liquid inks across smooth surfaces with air tools. Metallic accents bring a luminous depth to her work, ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike.

Alongside her vibrant abstracts, Lucie has developed Textured Lightworks – sculptural wall pieces made from layered corrugated board. With earthy grooves, natural tones, and touches of gold wax, these works shift with the play of light and shadow, offering a grounding presence that feels at home in both contemporary and rustic interiors.

Lucie’s art reflects her belief in creating beyond words – inviting viewers to pause, feel, and connect with the moment. Each work is original, thoughtfully crafted, and designed to bring a sense of harmony to the spaces they inhabit.
