Lee Pritchard transforms fragments of history into bold, contemporary artworks. A plumber by trade and an artist by passion, Lee creates in his spare time using salvaged pieces of brightly painted beehives collected after Cyclone Gabrielle swept through Hawke’s Bay. Each work carries the weathered colour, texture, and story of the hives’ past life — layered with his own geometric compositions and thoughtful design. Through precise shapes, clever repetition, and unexpected framing, Lee turns the remnants of a natural disaster into striking visual statements that celebrate resilience, community, and the beauty of reinvention.
