Kokako - Red Wattle (raku fired )

Rich red and softly mottled cream surfaces bring warmth to Sophie Lankovsky’s hand-sculpted Kokako. Layered feather textures, a gently lifted head and a red wattle give this small ceramic bird an alert, individual character.

Native birds of Aotearoa have been a strong feature of Sophie’s repertoire for 20 years. Her love of these birds and affinity for raku firing come together in a sculpture full of texture and expressive detail.
